lions and tigers and bears!
we went to the sf zoo yesterday with a bunch of girls from our ward. SO MUCH FUN! it was a little bit windy, but so fun to get out and explore. leah didn't quite appreciate all the animals, but she was a champ in the stroller if i do say so myself. she loved watching the bears wrestle in the water and was completely entranced when this peacock came SO close to us and started honking. strangest sound i've ever heard. she also loved the penguins. (if you're wondering, leah is 30 inches tall and 20 lb. 12 oz...just a bit smaller than the gorilla).
we saw lions, tigers, bears, giraffes, zebras, monkeys, gorillas, koalas, ducks, peacocks, rhinos, hippos, penguins, ostriches and lots more that i can't remember or have no idea what they are! my favorite were the baby giraffes...
in usual leah fashion, she loved the water fountain and cried when we had to leave it...
all that excitement made for one TIRED girl. she NEVER sleeps in the car! plus, the zoo is in prime real estate...as we drove home, this was our view...

Lions and tigers and bears, oh, my! And leah was standing! by the gorilla. What a fun day.
I want that view!! Do you think there is any chance there will ever be an ocean in the mid-west? Oh well, The mississippi river is kinda like that, just brown not blue!
i'm lovin' your hair, mare!! what a fun day.
Peacocks are spooky. We used to have some living in the house across the field (yeah, in Hollister, there are houses "across the field") and they peacocks sounded like a kid yelling "heeElp heeElp." Spooky.
And last time we were at the SF zoo (the only time I've been there), a rhino peed at us. Yep--at us. Gotta love that place.
oh my.. did you tell leah how LUCKY she was to see koalas?? they are my favorite and they can come on my bed, but tigers can't....do you remember that?? anyway, love you hair mare.. and your little leah-fush is cute too:)
What is that honking sound? We have a peacock park near our neighborhood and I have to say that I was a bit freaked out by all the honking. The kids loved it though.
Just a side note-Why is it that the females are the ugly brown ones while the males are brilliant beauties? Not fair...
Lucy and I were there the same day with some people in our ward. I bet we just missed each other because the bears were playing in the water when we were watching them too!
How fun! We have definitely got to move somewhere closer to a zoo! The only thing they have here is "Prairie Dog Town" (I'm not kidding) and just doesn't quite compare to lion and bears!
