finish what you start takes 4 and 5

see, this is what i was talking about by doing lots of projects. i finished the sundress tuesday, the shirt dress thursday and the bag this morning.

my first creation used to look like this:
until i found it in the Goodwill pile and just about had a heart attack. i LOVE this shirt. it's ryan's. he calls it his fruit shirt and thinks it's just a bit too girly. but i love it.

so i salvaged it and turned it into this:
now THAT'S girly.

the tutorial said it should take about 2-3 hours and was skill level easy. i must be a really bad seamstress if that's the norm. it took me at least 3x as long {even had to create my own pattern} and i had to fudge it a bit because you should use at least a men's size large shirt for leah's age...and we almost didn't have enough fabric. but i think it will work! it was definitely a bit more advanced. i even added some extra touches like a tag on the side and in the collar...and a double hem at the bottom to make it look more professional. hehehe. and this is leah's new little tote (okay, i might steal it once in awhile). we can put diapers, wipes, treats, etc. into it when we go places. and i just loved the fabric, so i couldn't resist. tutorial said 2-3 hours and they were right (from creating the pattern to tying the knot)! super super easy. it looks funny in these pictures. definitely cuter in real life.

{next project: bean's "big girl bed" quilt. i'm a little in denial.}

Stuff like this is the EXACT reason that God gave me boys. (And the fact that I would never be able to do cute hairstyles.) The only thing that I have ever turned one of Phil's old shirts into is a dust rag, and even then it wasn't a very good one. You are simply amazing.

I want to be just like you when I grow up. Really. I think my jaw drops every time I read your posts...for one reason or anything. These all are so amazing. I love the polka dot dress too!
