didn't he die of a heart attack?

so i've had a few things on my mind lately, just haven't had the spare time to sit down and organize said thoughts. i'm hoping the next few weeks will be kind to me, but with birthdays for my two favorite people, valentine's day, a rett syndrome gala, california prom take 2, an IEP and more on the horizon i might just choose to breathe instead.

i considered updating yesterday {punxsutawney phil predicts an early spring!}, but then quickly realized it would be much less profound than what i had to say last groundhog day.

i think ryan's choice of lunch yesterday is the only thing that might beat it, so here goes:

you take one of these:

cut it in half, then fill it with one of these:

and then you eat it.

and then you die.

seriously. ryan and his buddies from work thought this would be a good idea yesterday! half went to krispy kreme, armed with knives from their snackroom so they could cut the squishy doughnuts in half. the other half went to in n out across the parking lot and got a "flying dutchman" for everyone. then they joined back up to eat.

if you're wondering what a flying dutchman is, you'll have to consult in n out's "secret menu." yup. there's a secret menu. and the employees will know what you're talking about if you ask for a "4x4" or "animal style"...or a "flying dutchman". and if they don't know what it is, they'll make whatever it is you're asking for anyway. that's how they roll.

if you're wondering how it tasted, i asked ryan what he thought and he just kind of shrugged his shoulders. he was glad he tried it, but probably won't do it again. i thanked him. so did his heart. when i questioned its origins, he mentioned it was called a "luther burger", named after famous singer-songwriter luther vandross.

if you're wondering, luther vandross died in 2005 at the age of 54. of a heart attack.

looks like ryan is biking to work for the next little while.

Paula Dean (need I say more) has a recipe like that. You use two donuts in hers though. She says it's a once in a lifetime recipe, cause it's to die for.

*shudders*

I'm unaware of Boston. What and who is it?

I'm pretty sure they serve those right next to the deep fried candy bars at our state fair. I didn't know who would possibly eat them.....but now I do. lol
That actually sounds like something that Wes and his office would do.

Maren,

You are RIGHT. I should have clicked on this and I would have KNOWN about the rootbeer floats at In-N-Out. Do you know what, though? I would try that donut flying dutchman concoction. It kind of looks good to me...that's gross, right? I know. It's a weird day :)
